APABA Silicon Valley Celebrates Judge Lucy H. Koh’s Historic Confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
/The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley congratulates Judge Lucy Haeran Koh for her confirmation to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Judge Koh is the first Korean American woman to serve as a federal appellate judge, and the second AAPI woman from California to serve on the Ninth Circuit.
In her nearly 14 years on the bench, Judge Koh has presided over 271 trials and issued more than 3,250 written decisions in high-profile cases involving cybersecurity, intellectual property, antitrust, and other complex subjects, making her one of the most influential jurists in the Silicon Valley and beyond.
Judge Koh is a lifetime member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley, her home bar association, and previously held positions as a Board member and as a co-chair of our Civil Rights Committee. A child of immigrants, Judge Koh has dedicated herself to helping to make the legal profession more accessible and inclusive.
“We are extremely proud that Judge Koh has been given this historic opportunity,” said APABA Silicon Valley Co-Presidents Deanna Kwong and Jennifer Murakami. “Judge Koh’s intellectual rigor, fairness, and integrity elevate all courts where she presides. She continues to be a trailblazing role model for our community, and an inspiration to future generations of attorneys and judges of all backgrounds.”
