A Statement from APABA Silicon Valley

Two weeks ago, the world watched in horror at the sight of George Floyd suffering an unconscionable and vicious attack by someone who had violated his oath to protect and serve.  It is a sight we have seen too many times before: an unarmed Black man, who posed no threat to those around him, being casually executed for seemingly no reason other than the color of his skin.

The Black community has felt this pain for too long.  And for too long, those in power have been ambivalent and dismissive of this pain.  No more.  As we have seen from wide-scale protests mobilizing all over the Bay Area and Silicon Valley; coast-to-coast across the entirety of the United States; South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, the world is rising up in one voice to declare—unequivocally—that BLACK LIVES MATTER.

APABA Silicon Valley stands with the Black community and the chorus of voices across the globe in condemning the racism, bigotry, and prejudice that has led to the senseless killing of George Floyd and so many others.  Our leaders at all levels of government and law enforcement must act swiftly not just to deliver justice to the families and loved ones of those whose lives were wrongly taken, but also expose and eliminate the systemic injustice that has been inflicted upon the Black community for too long.  And until they act, we must all do our part to demand change, and demand justice.
