Legal Issues of Startups - Introduction to the Venture Capital Practice

SVB’s collapse a few weeks ago showed the world that venture capital is not just about tech companies. Among the companies that were affected included a flowers and plants distributor (Farm Girl Flowers), an Asian food products company (Omsom), and a children’s store (Camp NYC). Beyond working on financings, practicing in venture capital is helping clients get their ideas off the ground and grow and employ people and create products and services.

Come hear from a panel of lawyers from all stages of their careers to talk about their practice and why they love working in this space. Along the way, we’ll explain what some of the terms mean – what’s a cap table vs. a pro forma? What is a financing? etc.

Panelists:

  • Angela Kwok, Associate, Stubbs Alderton & Markiles, LLP

  • Andrew Lu, Associate, Morrison & Foerster

  • Sarina Jwo, Associate, Kilpatrick Townsend

Moderated by: Rebecca Tseng Grant, Sr. Associate, Silicon Legal Strategy
