APABA Silicon Valley Congratulates President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Historic Election Victory

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley (APABA Silicon Valley) extends its heartful congratulations to President-elect Joseph R. Biden, Jr. and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their election victory.

It is impossible to ignore the historical significance of this outcome. Senator Harris is the first woman of color (including the first Black and South Asian woman) ever elected Vice President of the United States. Her election to the second-highest executive office in the entire country has inspired the nation, and has created a formidable crack in the proverbial “glass ceiling” that we hope, one day soon, will be shattered entirely.

APABA Silicon Valley is a non-partisan organization that does not have any party preference. However, it is far from apolitical. At its core, APABA Silicon Valley is an organization grounded in the values of promoting equality and justice for all, which necessarily demands that it take sides on issues affecting our broader community. For this additional reason, APABA Silicon Valley celebrates the outcome of this election as a win for racial, economic, and environmental justice.

2020 has been a year fraught with peril and anguish, as the nation has faced the dual crises of the coronavirus pandemic and repeated and tragic reminders of the persistence of systemic racial injustice in our society. A record number of voters spoke loudly and forcefully that we must be a nation guided by compassion, empathy, scientific literacy, and truth. APABA Silicon Valley is eager to continue its mission, guided always by these ideals.
