Come celebrate the end of Omicron wave with a casual hike in the hills above Woodside! We’ll stretch our legs, enjoy the redwoods, renew old friendships and make new ones.

Sunday, March 20, 2022, 930-12 pm (plus optional lunch afterwards)

Location: 

Zwierlein Parking Lot, Huddart Park, Woodside (past the town, in the hills)

Hike Description:

Moderate. 5 miles. 950 ft elevation gain. See Crystal Springs and Dean Trail and Huddart Map

Getting There:

Plan to arrive at the park entrance no later than 930am.

There’s often a line, and it can take ~10 min to pay for parking. $6 cash at the booth (if staffed), or put cash in an envelope and use the drop box.

After paying for parking, drive 1-2 minutes to the Zwierlein parking lot (look carefully for the sign!) and meet there no later than 945am.

We will start hiking promptly at 10am!

Warning:

Enter the destination (e.g., “Zwierlein parking lot”), and start your GPS when you leave your house, as cellular can be weak / nonexistent in the hills near the park.

Please allow yourself more time if you haven’t been here before. The roads are narrow and windy. People often get lost driving to the park. Finding the meeting point inside the park can also be confusing (there are many parking lots / trailheads).

If in doubt, leave yourself an extra margin of time!

A good meeting place/time is the 280/Woodside park-and-ride lot at 9am. It’s about a 15-minute drive to the park (or longer, if you get lost or are a slower driver on mountain roads).

Optional Lunch:

After the hike, we will head to a restaurant (probably Old Port Lobster Shack in Redwood City) for an outdoors lunch (buy your own) for those who want to join (~20 people maximum, due to table availability).
