Come join a presentation by a panel of senior patent, licensing and litigation attorneys, recapping the most significant IP cases from the Supreme Court and Federal Circuit during calendar year 2017. It was a very busy year, with a mixture of new developments, evolution of existing case law, and some notable reversals. The cases reflect the longstanding tension between the Supreme Court and Federal Circuit (as well as slap-downs of the E.D.Tex.), much continuing litigation over the AIA, a major patent exhaustion case, new developments in the standards-essential patents/RAND area, and much more. Throughout the presentation, we will draw lessons from the case law to develop practice tips in the areas of portfolio development, licensing and litigation. We will conclude by comparing 2017 to prior years, with an eye toward understanding recent trends. MCLE credit pending.
