Stanford Law's APILSA and APABA Silicon Valley are thrilled to invite you to join us in celebrating Magistrate Judge Sallie Kim's recent appointment to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Magistrate Judge Kim graduated from Stanford Law School (1989) and Princeton University (1986) and has always maintained a special connection to SLS, serving as Associate and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs from 1995-1999. Upon graduating from law school, Magistrate Judge Kim served as a law clerk to the United States District Judge Spencer Williams of the Northern District of California; she later entered private civil litigation practice with an emphasis on federal securities law and intellectual property, first with the Palo Alto firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, later with Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe, and finally with GCA Law Partners, where she was a partner from 2002-2015.
Aside from her work in legal practice, Magistrate Judge Kim has been actively involved in public service, the Asian-American community, and the Stanford community. She has been Co-Director of the Trial Advocacy Program and a Lecturer in Law at SLS since 2014; the interim Title IX Coordinator for Stanford University in 2013 and 2014; Judge Pro Tem for Santa Clara County Superior Court from 2010 to the present; and Volunteer Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County for 14 weeks in 2014.
