APABA-SV New Lawyers Mixer: On Friday March 16, 2012, APABA-SV's New Lawyers Committee will host its first-ever New Lawyers Mixer at Kilpatrick Townsend's office in Menlo Park. We would like this mixer to provide an opportunity for APA attorneys who have recently begun their careers to network with and get to know one another. APABA-SV MENTORSHIP COMMITTEE EVENT: Fall Mentor Mentee/Mixer, sponsored by Special Counsel, Cooley, Law Offices of Mikio Ishimaru, and Orrick. APABA-SV is pleased to announce its 2011-2012 Mentorship Program! This program is intended to (1) foster relationships between law students and both junior and senior attorneys and (2) foster relationships between more senior attorneys and junior attorneys who are navigating the early years of their career and would benefit from the guidance and experience. Each Family will consist of a few law students, a junior/mid-level attorney as well as a senior attorney. This year, the keynote speaker will be Mariano-Florentino Cuellar, Professor of Law, Commissioner for the U.S. Department of Education Equity and Excellence Commission, and former Special Assistant to the President for Justice and Regulatory Policy.

Andrew Vu wins the 2012 Community Champion Award & Michelle Lee recognized for Best IP lawyer

Andrew Vu, former APABA-SV President was selected as the winner of the 2012 Community Champion Award, presented by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times at its 2012 Best Bay Area Corporate Counsel Awards ceremony.  Additionally, Michelle Lee of Google won for Best IP lawyer.  See links below for articles on Andrew Vu and Michelle Lee's achievements.

Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley selected as a recipient of the 2011 State Bar Diversity Award

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 State Bar Diversity Award.  The award recognizes its long term, sustained accomplishments toward increasing diversity in the legal profession.  The State Bar will be presenting the award at a reception during the State Bar's Annual Meeting in Long Beach, California.  The reception will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM in the Regency Room at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.
